The chaplet resembled a teepee rather than a grouping of sails the first day I saw it. It lacked an entryway, emphasizing its teepee-ness. I dove into the painting with little thought as I had few days to paint. Native American images flooded the canvases. Perhaps its having been built on a reservation and painted on former Native American lands influenced the course of the work.
